Agenda – May 2012

We have decided in response to questions and points raised consistently by members to devote our full meeting to discussing and hearing about research and projects focused on Glasgow. Ofcom’s Communications Market report published in 2011 noted that broadband take-up in Glasgow sits at a level of 50% compared to an average in Scotland of 61% and an average across the UK of 74%.

We look forward to presentations from:

  • Fiona Ballantyne of the Communications Consumer Panel on their new Digital Journeys research
  • Chris Seely of Wise Group on employability and digital skills and,
  • Glasgow Housing Association on their project with tenants in Glasgow to try and identify and overcome some of the barriers faced when non-users enter the online world.

We are also being offered the opportunity to contribute thinking to a new body of work being developed by The Carnegie UK Trust into digital participation.
